UK Stewardship Code

The Financial Reporting Council has announced its list of successful signatories to the UK Stewardship Code following its Autumn 2022 assessment. We are delighted to remain a signatory to the code and pleased that the council recognises our ongoing work in meeting the expected standard of reporting.

The Stewardship Code was redeveloped in 2020 and sets a high standard of stewardship for those investing money on behalf of UK savers and pensioners. It acknowledges the important role asset owners and asset managers play as guardians of the investments in their portfolios. The Stewardship Code comprises a set of ‘apply and explain’ principles for asset managers to increase the effectiveness of the investment industry’s approach to stewardship. The code sets out 12 principles for asset owners and asset managers to explain their approach. This covers, ‘purpose and governance’, ‘investment approach’, ‘engagement’ and ‘exercising rights and responsibilities’.

Stewardship is the responsible allocation, management and oversight of capital to create long-term value for clients and beneficiaries leading to sustainable benefits for the economy, the environment and society.
