Investment Writer

Duties

  • Responsible for the timely production of investment commentary across a range of products and capabilities, including monthly market outlook, monthly and quarterly fund commentaries, commentary for annual and interim fund reports, presentation updates and editorial reviews.
  • Adhere at all times to the strict deadlines required for producing and disseminating client-critical reports.
  • Apply your understanding of investments, the markets, and our services, as well as your storytelling skills to turn insights and strategies into needs-based campaigns which create commercial opportunities.
  • Work directly with the investment team to take responsibility for the following duties:
    • Working side by side with the portfolio management team and analysts to obtain technical knowledge that informs content production.
    • Crafting engaging and sophisticated commentaries that discuss economic market outlooks for investors, themes/trends seen in the investment portfolios of CCLA as well as sustainability insights.
  • Stay well informed about financial markets and global economics.
  • Identify opportunities to endorse the firm’s products and capabilities, improving the company’s position within the market.
  • Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to support CCLA’s promotion of funds (i.e. on the website), sustainability and market commentary.
  • Work with the Business Development team to support investment content in RFPs, presentations and to transform complex investment content into client-friendly documentation.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in the investment team to ensure accuracy of messaging, alignment of content with business priorities and timely delivery.
  • Contribute to team and department initiatives and ad hoc projects as required.

  • Excellent writer who can write efficiently, focus on details and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communications and relationship management skills; able to earn respect and trust among business partners and team members, and to deal effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate professional behaviours and an ability to work in a cooperative, consistent, diligent and efficient manner - at times under pressure.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. Ability to grasp complex concepts and convert them into clear communication messages.
  • Efficient project management skills and well-organised proactive approach.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy.

Experience and qualifications

  • Demonstrable years of financial journalism experience and/or investment writing experience is essential; a thorough understanding of investments; follower of the financial markets.
  • Specialisation in global equities and/or multi-asset products would be an advantage.
